The Torrents of Spring…Finis!

June 12th, 2009 · No Comments · The Torrents of Spring

At precisely 6:50 pm, at Thornapple Park, I finished Hemingway’s first novel, The Torrents of Spring.

I have many thoughts to share, many rabbit holes down which my mind has scampered.

First, however, I intend to read the book again. Perhaps twice more.

It’s at this time, after I’ve completed a project, that I’d want to read what others (critics and fans alike) have written about it. But I don’t wish others to influence my thinking or my observations about The Torrents of Spring. I want my thought to remain my thoughts. After my 70 Days are over, I may go back to see if my observations match those of others. Not yet.

In the meantime, I’ll read the book again — more slowly this time, taking copious notes. Then ponder some more.

Pondering is good.
